Operations Center, LLC uses games and wargames to help work through critical
decision simulations.
The study of history provides lessons which illustrate
what works and what does not work in most situations. "Learn from
the past so that you may not repeat the same mistakes", has been said
in many forms and in many languages. We at Command Operations Center, LLC
use games, from the simple to the complex simulation, to examine what can happen
in any given situation. We understand there are often no exact solutions
to each situation, but through trial and error you can often come up with a
solution that will work. The principles outlined in the Art of
War, by Sun Tzu, provide lessons that apply to business and government
just as they apply to the military of today.
The wargame provides the military mind a tool to
practice The Art of War without the bloodshed that normally accompanies
armed conflict. The wargame is an important aspect of the Command
Operations Center, LLC experience. Our personnel use this tool to clearly
illustrate the problem, or situation, confronting our clients.
Many of the members of the Command Operations Center
staff are very experienced war-gamers who game in many periods and scales.
As a group we have large collections of figures and gaming supplies and
have access to all of the name producers of games, figures, and accessories.
We are pleased to offer the services of any of those members
of our staff who paint commercially available castings, modify and paint
commercially available castings, or who model original designs of their
own.

Above
and below: A
column of refugees or
a "farmers march" on a Capitol being observed by US Marines in a
CH-53E. Note the Armored Train similar to one used during the Balkans
Campaign during the 1990s. This World War Two miniature is made by Heroics
& Ros and is of their German Armored Train modified appropriately. The
Railroad Track is also a H&R product.

Truisms:
If it's
stupid but works, it isn't stupid!
- Wargaming in the
Battletech world:
-
Battletech, a copy written trademark of
Whiz Kids, offers an interesting venue for the gamer. In
its view of the universe of the distant future the individual warrior
is outfitted with a giant suit of armor in the form of a Mech, with
differing capabilities. These capabilities provide an endless
combination of weapons to suit the needs of the pilot, known as a Mech
Warrior, in differing tactical and strategic situations.
Battletech is an excellent venue for practicing small unit
tactics. You must take into account the possibilities
contained in the reality presented. However, any group from
the Military to Law Enforcement Organizations should benefit because
the varying capabilities of each Mech forces cooperation and
interdependence between players at all levels of command. It
has in its favor the fact that the System has remained the same
since it was introduced, though the story it follows has evolved, the
system of rules have remained fairly constant.
- Truism:
Don't
look conspicuous: It draws fire.
-
- Marines (and
the other services) today, and in
the future:
-
From the streets and alleyways of
Sarajevo, the jungles of Viet Nam, to the interplanetary battlefields
of the future there will always be Marines. Maybe not in the
same form as you see today, but in some form or another they will
remain a part of the mythology of the Military tradition.
Traditional Marines, Sailors,
Airmen, and
Soldiers, are very well represented
in miniature in every scale from 5/6mm to 28/30mm by such diverse
manufacturers as GHQ
and GAMES WORKSHOP,
to name just two. We provide direct connection to as many figure
manufacturers as possible as a service to our customers. There
are many manufacturers who offer historical, science fiction, and
fantasy miniatures and rules covering most periods of history and flights
of the imagination.
-
We to not attempt to judge the
quality of the figures or accessories provided by any manufacturer.
Each manufacturer works within their own view of what is accurate
or historical, depending on the period or their interpretation of what
is written about the period. Some make a greater effort than
others. Some concentrate on quantity rather than quality. All
offer their best service to the gaming community.
Command Operations Center, LLC
operates a proprietary set of rules for our simulations.
Our knowledgeable staff has reviewed almost every set of rules for
every period of time up to the 41st Millennium to allow us to
establish a set of rules that represents what we feel needs to happen
in our simulations. We will discuss and share our ideas
with anyone who is interested and willing to correspond with our staff
via e-mail or normal post. We do not use computer simulation, or
computer resolution driven rules for reasons which may not be obvious
in the beginning, but will make sense after playing a complete
Simulation.
Computers are not the be all; end all, of simulation in or out
of combat.
Command Operations Center attends
various Wargaming conventions in an effort to test situations, to
exchange ideas, and to discuss war fighting in all its forms.
